The Oslo National Opera in Norway has recently named Randi Stene the General Director. The former contralto will officially begin her new position with the company on August 1, 2020.

Born in Trondheim, Randi Stene has performed at many prestigious venues, including Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Metropolitan in New York, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London, Bastille Opera in Paris, Komische Opera in Berlin, Oper Frankfurt and La Monnaie in Brussels. She has performed alongside prominent conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Pierre Boulez, Christoph von Dochnany, Bernhard Haitink, Andres Nelson’s Yannick Nezet-Seguin and Antonio Pappano.
Currently, Stene is a professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music and is also the operations manager at Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and opera.
