CHANGE: Tugan Sokhiev makes Salzburg Festival Debut Conducting Mussorgsky’s opera, "Boris Godunov"


The Salzburg Festival has announced that Tugan Sokhiev makes his debut in the company conducting Mussorgsky’s opera, "Boris Godunov" in place of the late Latvian conductor Mariss Jansons.


The opera premieres on August 20, 2020 and is directed by Christof Loy.




Sokhiev is an Ossetian conductor whose most recent engagements in the Bolshoi Theater included conducting operas “La bohème,” “Pique Dame,” “Così fan tutte,” “Carmen,” “Il Viaggio a Reims,” and “Boris Godunov,” among others.
