Opera Southwest Announces 'L’occasione fa il ladro'

Opera Southwest in Albuquerque, New Mexico has scheduled a presentation of Rossini’s “L’Occasione fa il Ladro.”

The opera forms part of the Apprentice Artist Program launched in 2014, which selects talented artists through competitive national auditions.

Anthony Barrese, the OSW Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, stated while many opera companies in the U.S. have apprentice programs, ours stands out as unique. We provide them with the invaluable opportunity to perform in a fully staged opera, rather than merely participating in the chorus or covering roles for other singers.

The cast includes Phillip Lopez, Erin Alford, Radnel Ofalsa, Sedona Libero, Zizhao Wang, and Jacob Rivera, with Anthony Barrese and Nathaniel Efthimiou as the production's conductors.

The rarely performed work by Rossini is scheduled for presentation from September 8 to September 20, 2023.
