Sir. Bryn Terfel Cancels ‘The Flying Dutchman’ at the Metropolitan Opera

Sir. Bryn Terfel has canceled his performances of Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” at the Metropolitan Opera. This is reportedly due to a fractured ankle. The bass-baritone will no longer be able to perform the production which was scheduled to open at the Met on March 2, 2020.

The new production was set to be Terfel’s return to the Met, where he has not performed in eight years. He was scheduled to sing a new production of “Tosca” back in the 2017-18 season but was forced to cancel due to illness as well.

The Met has not announced a replacement and as of now is set to star Anja Kampe, Sergey Skorokhodov, David Portillo, and Franz-Josef Selig in the production. Valery Gergiev conducts from the pit.

We wish Sir. Bryan Terfel a speedy and healthy recovery.
