Bampton Classical Opera is pleased to announce that applications are now open for their prestigious Young Singers' Competition, held biennially since 2013 to commemorate the company's 20th anniversary. This esteemed competition has become a significant platform for recognizing and nurturing the exceptional talent of young professional singers aged 21-32, along with their accompanists. Previous winners include Anna Starushkevych (2013), Galina Averina (2015), Emma Stannard (2017), Lucy Anderson (2019), and Cassandra Wright (2021). In 2017, the Accompanists' Prize was introduced, with Keval Shah being the first recipient. Bampton Classical Opera has gained recognition for its dedication to nurturing young artists, many of whom have gone on to collaborate with renowned national companies such as The Royal Opera, English National Opera, and Opera North.


The first round of the Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers' Competition 2023 (closed sessions) will be held on October 28 and 29 in London. The public final will take place at the Leonard Wolfson Auditorium, Wolfson College, Linton Road, Oxford OX2 6UD, starting at 6pm. This highly anticipated event promises to be an evening of captivating performances, showcasing remarkable talent. Esteemed judges for the competition include internationally renowned British singers, tenor Bonaventura Bottone and mezzo-soprano Jean Rigby.
