The China National Centre for the Performing Arts has unveiled an exciting lineup for its much-anticipated 2023-2024 season, promising a diverse range of captivating operatic performances.


Kicking off the season will be a mesmerizing rendition of Puccini's timeless classic, "Tosca," brought to life under the brilliant direction of Alessandra Panzavolta. Davide Livermore's direction of Delibes' "Lakmé" promises to be a visual and auditory delight. Starring Asmick Torosyan, Serena Malfi, Marco Ciaponi, and Pierre Doyen, this production is set to mesmerize audiences with its breathtaking performances and masterful conducting by Jean Luc Tingaud. Mark your calendars for September 12 to 16, 2023, to witness this extraordinary spectacle.


"The Merry Widow" by Lehars will grace the stage in October, captivating audiences with its delightful story and enchanting melodies. Directed by Hugo de Ana and starring Tania Kuhn, Thomas Weinhappel, Cinzia Zanovello, and Maximilian Mayer, this production promises to be a true musical treat. Experience the charm and wit of "The Merry Widow" from October 18 to 22, 2023, under the baton of Thomas Rösner.


November brings an exceptional performance of Verdi's monumental work, "Aida," conducted by the legendary Zubin Mehta. With an outstanding cast including Jorge de Leon, Dalibor Jenis, Susanna Branchini, Anastasia Boldyreva, and Adriano Gramigni, this production will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all who witness it. Shakespeare's timeless love story comes to life in Gound's "Roméo et Juliette," directed by Stefano Poda.
