Clementine Margaine Steps in at Arena di Verona's for 'Carmen'

The Arena di Verona has made an announcement regarding a change in the cast for their upcoming production of Bizet's famous opera, "Carmen." Anita Rashvelishvili, originally scheduled to perform on July 6, 2023, has withdrawn from the production. Stepping in to take her place will be Clementine Margaine, who had already opened the production on June 23.

This is not the first time Rashvelishvili has withdrawn from opera productions. She recently pulled out from both the Verona and Bayerische Staatsoper's performances of "Aida." In addition, she had to cancel her appearances at the Festival Aix-en-Provence. However, fans can look forward to seeing her return to the stage in August for "Il Trovatore" at the Teatro Colon.

Margaine will now join a talented cast that includes Mariangela Sicilia, Freddie De Tommaso, and Dalibor Jenis. The production of "Carmen" at the Arena di Verona will showcase Franco Zeiffrelli's legendary staging and will be conducted by Daniel Oren. With these changes, audiences can still anticipate a captivating and memorable rendition of this beloved opera.
