Festival Puccini's New Season



The highly anticipated 69th edition of the Festival Puccini di Torre del Lago has unveiled its exciting lineup for the upcoming season, which is scheduled to run from July 14 to August 26, 2023.


This renowned festival will present a captivating program featuring four operas, including three new productions that promise to captivate audiences with their artistry and storytelling.

Christophe Gayral's production of Puccini's timeless masterpiece, "La Bohème," will star a stellar cast, including Claudia Pavone, Oreste Cosimo, Federica Guida, Alessandro Luongo, Sergio Bologna, and Antonio Di Matteo. Under the baton of Alberto Veronesi, this production will enchant audiences with its poignant portrayal of love, friendship, and the bohemian spirit.

In the masterful hands of director Pier Luigi Pizzi, Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" will grace the stage with a cast featuring Carolina Lopez Moreno, Alessandra Volpe, Luciano Ganci, and Bruno Taddia. Conducted by Francesco Cilluffo, this production promises to immerse audiences in the tragic tale of love and betrayal, highlighting the enduring power of Puccini's music.


The title role of Puccini's grand opera "Turandot" will be portrayed by the talented Sandra Janusaite, joined by Antonio Di Matteo, Amadi Lagha, and Emanuela Sgarlata. Directed by Daniele Abbado and conducted by Robert Trevino, this production will transport audiences to the majestic world of ancient China, where love and courage collide.


Presented as a captivating double bill, Puccini's "Il Tabarro" and Bartok's "Bluebeard's Castle" will be directed by Johannes Erath. With Michele Gamba conducting, these two contrasting operas will take the audience on a compelling journey. Lucio Gallo, Monica Zanettin, Azer Zada, and Loriana Castellano will lead the cast of Puccini's "Il Tabarro," while Mikhail Petrenko and Szilvia Voros will take center stage in Bartok's haunting "Bluebeard's Castle."
