José Miguel Pérez Sierra has been announced as the new Music Director of Madrid's Teatro de la Zarzuela. He will be taking over the position from Guillermo García Calvo, who has decided not to renew his contract. Pérez Sierra is set to assume his role as Music Director during the 2024-2025 season. In the upcoming season, he will conduct the production of "La verbena de la Paloma," featuring a talented cast that includes Jesus Catejon, Borja Quiza, Milagros Martin, Carmen Romeu, Ana Sanmartin, Gurutze Beitia, Gerardo Lopez, Rafael Casetjon, Alberto Frias, Nuria Perez, Raffaela Chacón, and Ana Goya.


With an impressive background, Pérez Sierra brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He has previously conducted at renowned venues such as the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Palau de la Música in Valencia, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real and Teatro de La Zarzuela in Madrid, Ópera de Oviedo, and Opéra-Théâtre in Metz, among others. His extensive repertoire and successful performances have garnered him recognition and established him as a respected conductor in the opera and zarzuela world.
