Leah Hawkins to Sing Verdi's Requiem with Los Angeles Philharmonic



The Los Angeles Philharmonic has made an announcement regarding a modification in the cast for Verdi's Requiem scheduled for July 11, 2023.


According to the company, Angel Blue will be replaced by Leah Hawkins in the soprano role.

Hawkins took to her social media to express her excitement, stating,


“When your instincts tell you to pack a score, PACK it ! (It’s time for me get an iPad, I’ve fought long enough…. *eyeroll* #notatechie). I am excited to jump in and make my @LAPhil / @HollywoodBowl debut in one of my favorite works, Verdi’s Messa di Requiem, conducted by @GustavoDudamel! If you’re in LA come out on July 11 at 8pm!”

Presently, Hawkins is performing Puccini's "Tosca" at the Santa Fe Opera and has plans to return to the Metropolitan Opera for Verdi's Requiem and "X, The Life and Times of Malcolm X" during the 2023-24 season.


Hawkins joins a distinguished cast including Rihab Chaieb, Mario Chang, and Ryan Speedo Green. The performance at the Hollywood Bowl will be conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
