New York Festival of Song's 2023-24 Season

The lineup for the upcoming 2023-24 season of the New York Festival of Songs has been unveiled, promising an exciting array of performances.

One of the highlights is "100 Years of Broadway Love," a captivating showcase presented by soprano Kerrigan Bigelow, mezzo-soprano Sophia Baete, and baritone Shavon Lloyd. Accompanied by the talented pianist Steven Blier, they will mesmerize the audience after a weeklong residency in Orient, NY. Mark your calendars for this enchanting experience, taking place from August 21 to 27, 2023.

Launching the 36th season with a flourish, curators and co-pianists Steven Blier and Peter Dugan bring us "Perennials: songs for every season." This remarkable program, featuring works by acclaimed composers such as Schubert, Strauss, Toldrà, Sondheim, Carole King, and more, will grace the stage of Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center on September 28, 2023.

The New York Festival of Songs series continues with the captivating "Next Festival" at the Rubin Museum of Art. The performances, thoughtfully curated by Nathaniel LaNasa, promise to be a delight for the senses. Be sure to mark October 15 and 19, 2023, on your calendars to witness these extraordinary showcases.

Delighting audiences further, the Mainstage season presents "Gracias a la vida," featuring Ecuadorian tenor César Andrés Parreño and Bolivian soprano Shelén Hughes. Accompanied by the talented Steven Blier, they will offer a captivating program of South American songs, spanning the rich musical traditions of Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. Get ready to celebrate the holiday season with "A Goyishe Christmas To You!" This festive event, featuring soprano Lauren Worsham, mezzo-sopranos Donna Breitzer and Rebecca Jo Loeb, tenor Alex Mansoori, and Cantor Joshua Breitzer, promises to bring joy and cheer. With Steven Blier as the pianist and host, along with the brilliant clarinetist Alan R. Kay, this annual event will surely be a treat. As the new year begins, the New York Festival of Songs presents its annual "NYFOS@Juilliard" concert at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. This year's program, "Ned at 100," is a heartfelt tribute to the late American composer Ned Rorem. Through his music and diaries, as well as compositions by his esteemed circle of composer-friends including Leonard Bernstein, Francis Poulenc, Virgil Thompson, and Aaron Copland, the audience will embark on a memorable musical journey on January 18, 2024.

Prepare to be captivated by "All Together Now," a collaborative performance by Young Concert Artists. Featuring tenor Daniel McGrew, mezzo-sopranos Megan Moore and Erin Wagner, bass-baritone Joseph Parrish, and soprano/pianist Chelsea Guo, this program traverses six centuries of vocal ensembles. From the Renaissance to the present day, enjoy music by Mozart, Chabrier, Libby Larsen, the Bobs, and other esteemed composers on February 21, 2024.

March 19, 2024, marks an eagerly anticipated event as Eros and Co. take the stage after their immersive weeklong residency at the esteemed Caramoor. This exceptional concert is set to showcase an exquisite selection of songs by renowned composers such as Saint-Saëns, Granados, Serge Gainsbourg, and Sondheim, just to name a few. The cast for this enchanting performance features Caramoor's 2024 Schwab Vocal Rising Stars, who are known for their exceptional talent and promising future in the world of vocal music. Accompanied by the accomplished pianists Steven Blier and Bénédicte Jourdois, this concert promises to be a true feast for the ears and a memorable experience for all fortunate enough to attend.
