Opera in the Park Returns to Deer Lake Park with Spectacular Concert this July



Opera in the Park is set to make a highly anticipated comeback on July 16, 2023, at Deer Lake Park, in collaboration with the City of Burnaby. This special evening concert is designed for families and will be presented free of charge.


The concert will showcase a selection of arias and duets from Vancouver Opera's upcoming 2023-2024 season, featuring renowned works such as "The Magic Flute," "Don Pasquale," and "Carmen." Jonathan Darlington will lead the Vancouver Opera orchestra, accompanied by a talented cast of singers, including sopranos Jonelle Sills and Magda How, mezzo-soprano Emma Parkinson, tenor Andrew Haji, and baritone Clarence Frazer.


In an official press statement, Tom Wright, the General Director of Vancouver Opera, expressed his delight in returning to Deer Lake Park for Opera in the Park. He emphasized the event as a continuation of their partnership with the City of Burnaby, following the success of last year's concert. Wright highlighted that the July 16 event would offer a full day of performances catering to music lovers of all ages, with numerous activities for families to enjoy. The concert serves as a celebration of beloved favorites from their upcoming season productions.


The concert will commence at 7:30 p.m., providing a memorable summer experience for attendees.
