'Opera Italiana is in the Air' to Give a Free Concert in Central Park

UPDATED INFORMATION: Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the event has been relocated to St. Bart's Church in New York City.

Alvise Casellati, an Italian conductor, has recently announced that the Opera Italiana is in the Air will be hosting a free concert in Central Park on June 26th at 7 p.m. This concert, titled "Peace on Earth: The Art of Nature," aims to make opera more accessible to the public. To achieve this, Opera Italiana has decided not to charge admission fees and has selected a casual and public location at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. They have also fostered collaboration between established industry professionals and young musicians. In an effort to create a modern, informal, and diverse atmosphere, performers will be dressed casually.

The concert's program is truly unique and will feature a variety of performances. One highlight is a composition called "All Around Earth," composed by 11-year-old Isaac Thomas, who is currently a student at The Juilliard School. Additionally, the Rising Voices Choir from the Music Therapy Department at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital will showcase their talent. The concert will be live-streamed to patients at the hospital and through Opera Italiana's YouTube channel. Among the soloists performing are Angela Meade, Valentina Gargano, and Mariam Suleiman, among others.

New York City marks the second destination on the Opera Italiana is in the Air Summer 2023 Concert tour. The tour will conclude with a performance on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in September. For more information, visit the link below.
