The Atlanta Opera Announces New Artists



The upcoming 2023-2024 season of the esteemed Atlanta Opera is set to showcase an exceptional lineup of talented artists as part of its Glynn Studio Artists program.


Among the chosen performers are Aubrey Odle, a remarkable mezzo-soprano, the soprano sensation Amanda Sheriff, the talented director Nora Winsler, and the captivating bass-baritone Jason Zacher. Additionally, tenor Kameron Lopreore has been selected for a second season, a testament to his outstanding abilities.


The Glynn Studio Artists will be immersed in a transformative experience, receiving comprehensive training and gaining invaluable stage exposure. This includes the opportunity to perform lead roles and participate in major concert showcases. The inception of the Studio Artist program in 2016 was driven by a clear mission to identify and nurture exceptional talent. Tomer Zvulun, the Carl W. Knobloch General & Artistic Director, expressed his enthusiasm, stating,


"Singers expand their skills and knowledge through the training and opportunities provided here, and many have gone on to achieve remarkable careers. This year, we continue our program with great confidence, recognizing that these extraordinary young artists are the bedrock of the future of opera." -Tomer Zvulun

Kameron Lopreore, having already been a part of The Atlanta Opera Studio Artists during the 2022-24 season, also graced the stage at the renowned Santa Fe Opera. Aubrey Odle has captivated audiences with her performances at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, and she will join the Des Moines Metro Opera for the much-anticipated 2023 summer season. Amanda Sheriff, a rising star, has garnered acclaim as a Young Artist with the Glimmerglass Festival and is set to enthrall audiences with her upcoming appearance at Opera Bozeman. Nora Winsler, a seasoned director, has showcased her exceptional talent with esteemed organizations like the Virginia Opera and the Des Moines Metro Opera. Lastly, Jason Zacher, a bass-baritone of immense skill, has lent his powerful voice to notable companies such as Glimmerglass, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Kentucky Opera.


The Studio Artists will be guided and mentored by an impressive group of coaches and clinicians. This distinguished team includes David Okerlund, the Principal Vocal Clinician, Kevin Burdette, the Principal Dramatic Clinician, Walter Huff, the Principal Guest Coach, Stefano Baldasseroni, the Italian Diction Coach, Marianne Barrett, the German Diction Coach, and Pierre Vallet, the French Diction Coach. With their expert guidance, the Studio Artists will refine their vocal and dramatic skills, ensuring a truly outstanding experience.
